JHS Net Manager

From the Weekly Club Net to Emergency Operations

Joomla Ham Suite gives amateur-radio organizations one familiar environment for routine nets, public-service communications and emergency operations.

Use it every week for the club net. When communications become more important, Net Control is already working with a system operators know and understand.

Built for the Nets Clubs Run Every Week

JHS Net Manager simplifies routine net operation. Net Control can open a configured net, record check-ins, maintain station information and close the net when operations are complete.

Returning stations can be recognized from a permanent station list, reducing repetitive data entry. Completed nets become part of an organized archive, giving clubs a useful history of participation and activity.

Radio First — Broader Participation When Appropriate

Routine amateur-radio nets have an important purpose beyond collecting names on a check-in list: they keep licensed operators active, engaged and comfortable using their radios.

For weekly club nets, JHS supports the traditional on-air experience while giving Net Control modern tools for managing check-ins, station information and net records.

Emergency and public-service operations can be different. During those events, authorized non-hams, trained spotters, volunteers and agency personnel may also contribute through JHS using a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone while licensed amateur operators continue handling radio communications.

The goal is flexibility without replacing radio. Organizations should be able to choose participation rules appropriate to the purpose of each net — preserving amateur radio during routine operations while opening additional reporting paths when broader participation is valuable.

Practice Without Calling It Practice

Using JHS for ordinary club nets gives Net Control Operators and club members regular experience with tools that can also support emergency operations.

Instead of encountering an unfamiliar system for the first time during severe weather, operators have already used it during routine club activities.

The weekly net becomes more than a check-in exercise. It helps keep operators, procedures and technology ready.

Ready When the Net Becomes an Operation

During an emergency or public-service event, JHS can extend far beyond a traditional check-in list. Net activity can become part of a larger Command environment where field reports, responder locations, evidence and operational information are collected and reviewed.

Weather-related operations can also be activated automatically when an applicable National Weather Service warning is received, allowing authorized field reporting to begin even before a Net Control Operator reaches the Command Center.

A Doorway Into Amateur Radio

Broader participation during emergency and public-service operations can also introduce non-hams to amateur radio in a meaningful way.

A trained spotter or community volunteer using JHS may work alongside licensed operators and see firsthand how amateur radio supports communications when communities need it.

Today's web participant may become tomorrow's newly licensed amateur-radio operator.

When the Net Closes, the Record Remains

Completed nets don't disappear when Net Control signs off. Check-ins and net activity are retained in an organized archive on your organization's website — one central location for the club's permanent history of routine and operational nets.

During incident operations, JHS can go further by compiling operational information into reports for review and distribution after the event.

Useful on an Ordinary Sunday Night

A club doesn't need an active emergency-communications team to benefit from JHS Net Manager. Routine nets provide a practical reason to use the system throughout the year.

For organizations involved in SKYWARN, ARES, RACES, AUXCOMM or public-service communications, those same familiar tools can become part of a much larger operational system when needed.

Built for the Club. Ready for the Emergency.

Keep amateur radio at the center of the weekly net while giving your organization the flexibility to expand participation when the situation calls for it.
