From Weather Awareness to Organized Response
Joomla Ham Suite brings weather monitoring and emergency communications together. Clubs can use JHS for everyday weather awareness, while organizations involved in SKYWARN and emergency communications can turn an NWS warning into an active operation.
The Incident Doesn't Wait for Net Control
When the National Weather Service issues an applicable warning, JHS can automatically activate the appropriate emergency or SKYWARN net. There is an important reason for that automation: responders shouldn't have to wait for a Net Control Operator to reach the radio or Command Center before reporting begins.
Authorized participants can immediately log in from a PC, laptop, tablet or smartphone and begin submitting observations, locations and evidence. When Net Control arrives, the operation and its developing field information are already waiting.
One Net. Many Ways to Participate.
Licensed amateur-radio operators can participate over the air or through JHS. Authorized non-hams can participate through the web interface without an amateur-radio license or radio equipment.
That means radio operators, trained weather spotters, community volunteers and other authorized participants can contribute to the same operation using whatever communications path is available to them.
You don't have to own a radio to report.
From the Field to Emergency Management
Authorized Emergency Management agencies and Emergency Operations Centers can have access to JHS Command and their own county-focused dashboard. Incoming reports, responder activity and evidence can become part of a shared operational picture without waiting for information to be manually passed from person to person.
When the Event Ends, the Information Doesn't Disappear
At the conclusion of an operation, JHS can compile incident and activity information into reports for distribution through the system. Field reports, operational activity and supporting documentation become part of the event record rather than disappearing when the net closes.
That gives clubs, emergency-communications organizations and Emergency Management personnel useful documentation for after-action review, agency reporting and future planning.
